ICIM Southeast Asia Manufacturing and Intelligent Manufacturing Development Study Tour Successfully Concluded

The Southeast Asia Manufacturing and Intelligent Manufacturing Development Study Tour organized by the International Coalition of Intelligent Manufacturing (ICIM) was successfully concluded on May 17, 2025. During the 10 days across Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam, the delegation members comprehensively investigated the latest development trends of the manufacturing industry and the cutting-edge trends and practical applications of intelligent manufacturing through factory tours, exhibitions, and seminars.

Prof. Yang Huayong, Chairman of ICIM led the delegation, which is consisted of representatives from universities, research institutions, and enterprises. In Singapore, the delegation attended the ICIM International Intelligent Manufacturing Symposium, visited the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SMF, visited Rockwell Automation Singapore, Makino Singapore, Accelink Penang, Premium Sound Solutions Penang, and a Vietnam factory of a Chinese electronics industry leader. The delegation also had in-depth exchanges with the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) and attended conferences and forums such as the China-ASEAN Machinery, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, and New Energy Cooperation and Development Forum and the Vietnam Automation Technology Exhibition, conducting in-depth research on the development of manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing in Southeast Asia. This article will focus on the visit to Singapore.

On the morning of May 8, 2025, the ICIM delegation visited SMF and met with SMF President Mr. Lennon Tan, Mr. Dennis Mark, CEO of SMF, and Dr. Zeng Xian Ting, Director of AMTA (Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy). The two sides had in-depth exchanges, discussed future cooperation, and officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Signing the MOU

Founded in 1932, SMF is the largest national organization for manufacturing in Singapore, currently with approximately 5,000 corporate members covering ten major industries.
