Dongfeng Peugeot JV trims French automaker's China sales outlook
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co. has cut its sales target for Peugeot vehicles 4 percent, to 230,000 units from 240,000, according to Chinese media.
The joint venture between PSA Peugeot Citroen and Dongfeng Motor Corp. is the first automaker in China to lower its sales target this year, reported Beijing News, a Chinese daily newspaper.
The new sales target reflects Peugeot's lower-than-expected sales in China so far this year. Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen aimed to sell 240,000 Peugeot units in 2012, up 40 percent from last year, according to Beijing News.
But in the first four months, the partnership has sold only 54,587 units, according to LMC Automotive.
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen also produces Citroen models. In the first four months, it sold 54,334 Citroen units.
