Car prices in China drop 3% in November

Light-vehicle prices in China declined 3.1 percent year-on-year in November as industry sales cooled off, according to the National Development and Reform Commission, China's central economic planning agency.

The average price of microvans, which are widely used in China to carry passengers and goods, slid 0.5 percent in November while SUV prices slipped 1.2 percent.

Car prices have softened as China's once red-hot economy slowed a bit this year.

Last month, China's light-vehicle sales edged up 0.3 percent to 1.3 million units in November, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

By contrast, sales of light vehicles in China soared 33 percent in 2010.
