e-Works PLM Summit 2005 entitled “Explore the way of innovation for Chinese manufacturing” has achieved significant breakthroughs in Guangzhou, China, on December 3rd, 2005. More than 500 professionals from government, manufacturing companies, software vendors, research institutes and agencies, have attended this summit.

This e-Works PLM summit is sponsored by China 863-PLAN CIMS Experts Group, Guangdong department of science &technology and Guangzhou bureau of science &technology.

The 2005 Summit kicked-off with rousing Speeches by Zhou Mutang, VP from Guangdong department of science &technology, and Gong Hongwu, VP from Guangzhou bureau of science &technology, which were followed by several engaging presentations & keynote speaks. Qi Guoning, a known PLM authority, professor from Zhejiang University, keynoted the Product Innovation Strategy and Method, as well as, Principle and Application of Mass Customization, to help enterprises to improve their innovation capabilities.

Keynote speakers, CEO from Dassault Systemes-- Mr. Denis Georgeon, VP from AGILE China—Mr. Huang Xianghui,Board Chairman of hoteamsoft–Professor Yang Chaoying,VP from KMSoft—Dr. Xiao Jun, CEO from CAXA—Dr. Lei Yi gave attendees motivating lectures in the morning, to help the Chinese manufacturing companies to have an overall understanding of PLM application and better master its trend.

The summit featured three tracks: CAD/CAE, CAPP/CAM/Digital Manufacturing, PDM/PLM in the afternoon, attendees were divided into three Breakour sessions and given the opportunity to have a deeper focus in the areas, which they are interested in.

In CAD/CAE Breakour session, Software vendors from SolidWorks, Autodesk, CAXA, MSC demonstrated how their products helped technical innovation for the enterprises. After that managers from Weifang Mould Company and General Auto-Wuling shared their experiences with the modern software technology.

In CAPP/CAM/Digital Manufacturing Breakour session, CEO of e-Works, Dr. Huang Pei stated the application and development trend of Manufacturing informatization. Other famous software vendors from UGS, KMSoft, CAXA, Cimtraon, and companies like Sanjiang Aerospace Group, Guangzhou Baiyun Electronics Co,. Ltd, attended the discussion of CAPP/PDM integration Application, and this session was highly regarded by the attendees.

PDM/PLM Breakour session was sponsored by UGS, EXTECH, KMSoft, CAXA, Hoteamsoft. VP from Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd, stated “Coordination and Innovation have helped our company to soar in the industry.”

Attendees showed great interest on the display of this PLM Summit. Z Corporation brought their 3D printer; 3Dconnexion came with their 3D input equipment for product design; Sinfor focused on VPN solutions; Guangzhou ProWay demonstrated their PDM solutions; SSA, well known for ERP, introduced their unique PLM solutions.

Overall, the event was a significant success, receiving rave reviews from attendees and speakers alike. The event was great - the content was applicable and the attendees benefited from being there.
