ICIM International Intelligent Manufacturing Symposium

The ICIM International Intelligent Manufacturing Symposium was successfully held in Singapore on May 9, 2025. Under the theme "Intelligent Innovation: Navigating Economic Cycles, Reshaping the Future of Industries", the symposium gathered distinguished experts and corporate representatives from China, Singapore, Germany, Japan, Canada, the United States, and Malaysia and other countries to exchange insights on cutting-edge developments and practical implementations in the intelligent manufacturing field. 

Prof. Yang Huayong, Chairman of the International Coalition of Intelligent Manufacturing (ICIM), delivered the keynote speech titled "Advances in AI-Driven Intelligent Manufacturing for High-End Equipment". He elaborated on the challenges of digital transformation in high-end equipment development under the context of new industrialization, and shared exploratory cases of AI applications in advanced manufacturing. Prof. Yang stressed that AI technology has been deeply integrated into all stages of high-end equipment manufacturing—from design and R&D to production—significantly enhancing both the intelligence level and production efficiency of industrial systems.
Prof. Chen Chun-Hsien, from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, delivered an insightful speech titled "Human-Centric Intelligent Design and Manufacturing". He elucidated how to integrate informatics and human-centric principles into the design and manufacturing process. He stressed that by focusing on human needs and experiences, combined with advanced informatics technologies, can lead to the creation of more user-friendly products that better meet market demands.

Dr. Zhang Yong-wei, Principal Scientist and Distinguished Institute Fellow, A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing, delivered a keynote speech titled "A Digital Platform for Additive Manufacturing". He elaborated on the applications of additive manufacturing in design and production, sharing insights into the development and implementation of its digital platforms. Dr. Zhang stressed that additive manufacturing has transformed traditional design philosophies, unlocking unprecedented creative freedom for engineers and opening vast opportunities for technological innovation and advancement in the manufacturing sector.
Dr. Tan Chee-Fai, Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology,President of the Malaysian Smart Industry Association, delivered a presentation titled "Current Development and Practices of Intelligent Manufacturing in ASEAN". He provided an in-depth analysis of the status of intelligent manufacturing technologies within the ASEAN region, sharing successful application cases from local enterprises. His insights offered attendees firsthand knowledge about the advancements and implementation strategies driving intelligent manufacturing across ASEAN.

Prof. Shen Weiming, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech titled "Industrial Large Models and Their Applications in Manufacturing". He introduced innovative applications of large-scale model technology in the manufacturing sector, highlighting their immense potential. Prof. Shen emphasized that industrial large-scale models will profoundly reshape production paradigms and value chains in manufacturing, serving as a core driver for enterprises to overcome development bottlenecks and secure a dominant position in industry competition.
During the corporate expert presentations: Mr. Marcelo Tarkieltaub, Regional Director of Southeast Asia-Rockwell Automation, discussed "Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation Trends in Industry", sharing Rockwell’s innovative achievements and future strategies in industrial automation. Mr. Tadashi Kasahara, General Manager of Advanced Robotics and Digitalization at Makino Asia, introduced "Intelligent Functions and Automation", showcasing the latest advancements in Makino’s intelligent upgrades. Mr. Bernd Lieberth, Asia-Pacific Marketing Manager for Factory Automation at Siemens, presented "Globalization and Smart Manufacturing Practices", highlighting Siemens’ global implementation of intelligent manufacturing. Mr. Zhang Huize, Head of International Digital Business and Innovation, SUPCON, addressed "Open Source Industrial Digitalization", detailing SUPCON’s explorations and accomplishments in open-source industrial digital transformation.



The symposium also included a panel discussion and exchange session moderated by Dr. Huang Pei, Deputy Secretary-General of the ICIM. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key challenges and emerging trends within the intelligent manufacturing sector. Prof. Yang Huayong, ICIM Chairman, summarized the outcomes of the event and emphasized its critical role in fostering international collaboration and driving innovation across the global intelligent manufacturing landscape.

The successful hosting of the ICIM International Intelligent Manufacturing Symposium has established a high-quality platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange within the intelligent manufacturing sector.
