In 2001, HP China has collaborated with Shanghai BELL Alcatel to do some research programs. As an innovative program, PDM@Alcatel is try to facilitate knowledge management across the enterprise, enhance collaboration and coordination throughout the organization and business systems in the product lifecycle and invigorate its global manufacturing capabilities.

HP was favored over its competitor’s software because of its seamless integration with Shanghai BELL Alcatel’s existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation and bill of material (BOM) data management.  This new engagement signifies the beginning of a long-term relationship between the two companies, which will allow Shanghai BELL Alcatel to fully realize the value of knowledge management and engage their partners in a globally collaborative environment.

During the implement, HP was not simply lead ASB to use the latest product technology but to help ASB to balance the applying demand, analyze the difference between each project, guided ASB choose by itself. As the first project of Shanghai BELL Alcatel’s global investigate reform leading by ASB, the result of this collaboration achieved “seamless ” integration of product invest management and market apply, improved Shanghai BELL Alcatel’s abilities of investigate and product lifecycle management.
