BEIJING, Nov 08, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- More than 300 IT enterprises set up China RFID industry association in Beijing on November 4, in a move to boost the research and development of RFID (radio frequency identification) technologies and tags.

Apart from the domestic companies like Sparkice, the initiators also include IBM, Microsoft, Intel and Siemens, all Fortune 500 companies.

This newly-established association will serve as the radio frequency identification and tag application branch of China Information Industry Trade Association, a non-government organization based in Beijing.

That day also saw the establishment of the tag working group under the Ministry of Information Industry, focusing on the study and formulation of preliminary RFID standards.

The association gets support from several ministries in the country, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Information Industry and the Development Research Center of the State Council.
