Mazda's July deliveries rise 36% on strong demand for new models
Mazda Motor Corp.'s China sales surged 36 percent to 15,934 vehicles in July.
The results were driven by two models the company introduced in China in May -- the Mazda6 Atenza and the Mazda3 Axela, officials with the automaker's Shanghai office said.
In the first seven months, Mazda's China sales rose 22 percent year-on-year to 114,786 units.
To sustain growth in China, the Japanese automaker launched sales of the locally built Mazda CX-7 on July 30.
Aside from the Mazda6 Atenza, Mazda3 Axela and Mazda CX7, Mazda produces the regular Mazda6 and Mazda3 as well as the Mazda2, Mazda8 and Mazda CX-5 in China. The company also sells the imported Mazda CX9 in the market.
