TRW opens r&d center near Shanghai
TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. has opened an r&d center in Anting, near Shanghai.
The 66,000-square-meter center houses more than 20 test labs for brakes, steering, suspension, electronics and occupant safety, the company said.
The center also will house research on semiautomated vehicles, which automatically brake if sensors detect a road hazard.
The center will employ 1,200 engineers, researchers and technical staff. It will be TRW's largest r&d center in the world, the company said.
Last year, TRW Automotive recorded global sales of $17.4 billion (108 billion yuan). The company employs more than 65,000 workers worldwide.
