Great Wall volume jumps 21% on SUV surge
Great Wall Motor Co.'s vehicle sales surged 21 percent year-on-year to 754,242 units in 2013, thanks to robust demand for its SUVs.
The company sold 417,382 Haval SUVs last year, up 48 percent from 2012.
By contrast, sales of its Great Wall-badged sedans rose only 2 percent to 210,054 units, and sales of Wingle pickups dropped 8 percent to 126,806 units.
Great Wall, headquartered in Baoding of north China's Hebei province, is China's largest seller of domestic-brand passenger vehicles.
The company aims to sell 880,000 vehicles in 2014, up 17 percent from 2013, said company spokesman Shang Yugui, in a blog posted on Sina.com, a Chinese Web site.
