Bosch opens 1.1 billion-yuan aftermarket parts plant in Nanjing

Robert Bosch GmbH opened a plant last week in the east China city of Nanjing to produce spark plugs, brake components and diagnostic equipment for Asia's aftermarket.

The 1.1 billion yuan ($177 million) facility is expected to produce 125 million spark plugs, 80 million brake pads and 25,000 units of diagnostic equipment per year by 2015, the German supplier said.

At full production in 2015, the plant will have 3,500 employees, up from 2,000 employees today.

In December, Bosch opened a flagship car service shop in Beijing. The company plans to open more than 700 additional repair shops in China through 2015, boosting its total to more than 2,000.
