Apple Reported Revenue Of USD5.7 Billion In Greater China In Q3 2012
Tim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple, announced at the conference call for the third fiscal quarter that the company's operating revenue in Greater China reached USD5.7 billion during the reporting period, a year-on-year increase of 48%.
Cook said that during the reporting period, the sales of iPhone increased by over 100% in Greater China. However, the sales of Macs in Asia Pacific saw a decline compared with the previous quarter, and the decrease was mainly attributed to the performance of the Greater China region.
According to Apple, its operating revenue from Greater China accounted for two-thirds of its total operating revenue in Asia Pacific. During the third fiscal quarter, its operating revenue in Greater China increased by 48% year-on-year to USD5.7 billion, still maintaining incredible growth speed. Since the beginning of 2012, Apple's revenue from Greater China had reached USD12.4 billion. In the 2011 fiscal year, Apple's revenue from this region was USD13.3 billion.
However, Asia Pacific was the only region where Apple's sales of Mac saw a decline; and the sales volume was 593,000 units, decreasing by 4% year-on-year. In regards to operating revenue, Apple's revenue from Asia Pacific was USD7.887 billion during the reporting period.
