Great Wall's exports jump 42% in first 5 months
Great Wall Motor Co. says it exported 37,931 vehicles in the first five months of this year, up 42 percent from the same period last year.
Exports accounted for 17 percent of the company's vehicle sales during the period. From January through May, Great Wall's vehicle sales rose 19 percent to 230,000 units.
The company aims to sell 600,000 vehicles this year, with exports totaling 100,000 units.
Last year, Great Wall sold 487,000 units, of which 83,000 units were exported. The company is China's second-largest passenger vehicle exporter, behind Chery Automobile Co.
Great Wall is headquartered in Baoding in north China's Hebei province. The company makes Haval SUVs, Wingle pickups and Voleex cars.
