Daimler, BYD will unveil EV concept in Beijing
Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., a 50-50 joint venture between Daimler AG and BYD Co., will introduce a concept electric vehicle at the Beijing auto show in April.
The concept car's introduction also will mark the debut of the joint venture's new brand, Daimler said in a statement.
The partnership, which is in the south China city of Shenzhen where BYD is headquartered, will produce compact and mid-sized electric vehicles.
BYD will contribute batteries and the e-drive system, while Daimler will provide know-how in electric vehicle architecture and safety, according to Daimler.
The partnership's first electric vehicle will be launched in 2013.
