Lamborghini projects 46% sales increase in China
Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. expects to sell more than 300 cars in China this year, up from 206 units in 2010.
At a Reuters conference in Paris last week, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said China will account for a fifth of Lamborghini's global sales.
The Aventador LP 700-4, priced at 255,000 euros (2.3 million yuan) in Europe, is sold out for the first 18 months of production, and China accounts for a fifth of buyers so far.
Winkelmann said Lamborghini expects to sell 1,500 cars worldwide this year, up from 1,302 units in 2010.
China's demand for luxury cars and high-performance vehicles continues to outpace industry sales. Analysts at IHS Automotive expect China's premium segment will grow to 910,000 units in 2011, compared with 727,227 last year.
