China's Haier Invests CNY10.8 Billion For South China Headquarters

Chinese home appliances and electronics maker Haier has started the construction of a new project in Foshan Sanshui Industrial Park, Guangdong.

With a total investment of CNY10.8 billion, Haier's new project will cover an area of over 2,000 mu and it will have three major centers focusing on market, manufacturing, and logistics. According to Haier's plan, this new project will become the company's headquarters in South China, export base, innovative brand center, modular standard industrial park and comprehensive industrial park.

With an initial investment of CNY6 billion, the new project will first develop sectors concerning Haier's washing machine, freezer, and logistics businesses. These sectors are expected to be completed and put into production in March 2012.

Haier's new industrial park will provide users with complete solutions, instead of selling single products. Based on the modular manufacturing, it can rapidly offer customized products to meet the demands of customers while providing personalized and complete services. It is reportedly an important measure for Haier's transformation from a manufacturer to a service provider.

In addition, Haier plans to build another market innovation industrial park in Shenyang, Liaoning this year. The Shenyang industrial park will have a refrigerator project with annual production capacity of two million sets.
