Dongfeng to sponsor NBA in China for long term
Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Co. has become a long-term sponsor of the National Basketball Association's China games, said a company spokesman.
The deal extends the marketing partnership launched last year when Dongfeng's Aeolus compact sedan became the official vehicle for two preseason games played by the Houston Rockets in Guangzhou and Beijing.
Further details of the deal will be disclosed during the Shanghai auto show in late April, the spokesman said.
Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle is a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group, a state-owned automaker headquartered in the central China city of Wuhan. It is China's second largest domestic automaker.
Established in 2007, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle sells the three-box Aeolus S30 sedan plus a hatchback variant, the Aeolus H30.
In 2010, Dongfeng sold 28,200 Aeolus cars. This year, the company aims to increase Aeolus sales to 42,000 units.
