Skoda's China sales surged 62% in 2010, account for 20% of VW volume

Skoda sold 200,100 cars in China last year, up 62 percent from 2009, according to Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co.

Volkswagen AG brought its Skoda brand to China in 2007, and the low-priced Czech automaker now accounts for 20 percent of VW's sales in China.

Three Skoda models are currently built in China - the Octavia, Fabia and Superb. Skoda now has a network of more than 300 dealerships across China.

Volkswagen plans to introduce the Skoda Yeti SUV in China in 2013. It aims for the Czech car brand to contribute up to 30 percent of its China sales in the long term, according to Shanghai VW.

Shanghai VW, established in 1985, is a 50:50 joint venture between Volkswagen and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
