GM, SAIC's new collaboration

General Motors Co (GM) and its Chinese partner SAIC Motor Corp will cooperate more in developing alternative-energy vehicles for the world's largest auto market, the companies said in a statement on Wednesday.

Detroit-based GM, China's largest overseas carmaker, and Shanghai-based SAIC may share technologies for developing electric vehicles and their components. The companies also will increase the role of their engineering and design joint venture, the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center in Shanghai.
