Wuhan to invest 3 billion yuan to build 1st electric auto base

Hannan District of Wuhan and Yuanda Ruihua Electric Automobile Company officially signed a contract in Shanghai on Sept. 12 to invest 3 billion yuan to establish China's first electric automobile industrial base in Wuhan, according to the people's government of Hannan District.

It covers a total net area of over 333,500 square meters. The industrial base will mainly produce environmentally-friendly electric automobiles, which only have batteries and capacitors as well as the components and parts of electric automobiles.

The base is expected to have an annual production capacity of 3,000 electric automobiles and 3,000 core components. The construction period will take two years and after it is put into operation, the annual sales are expected to reach 10 billion yuan.

Because they are powered by only batteries and capacitors, this kind of pure electric vehicle will not consume a drop of oil. After being charged for about three hours, it can run between 250 and 300 kilometers.

The new-energy vehicle industry is one of the seven emerging industries that China has decided to accelerate recently, and the pure electric vehicle project is one of the key projects of the new-energy vehicle industry.

The pure electric vehicle production technology developed by the Ruihua Group in Shanghai is a brand-new technology with completely independent intellectual property rights, and also one of most advanced technologies in the world. The products have already served many important events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Dalian Davos Forum 2009.

In 2010, around 1,100 vehicles of this kind were provided for the Shanghai World Expo, and they have also been chosen by Guangzhou as the first-choice vehicles for the Asian Games.
