Fujian cell phone exports up 130% in Jan. to July period

August 21, 2010 - East China's coastal province of Fujian exported 1.99 million cell phones in the January-July period, a 130 percent year-on-year rise, Fuzhou Customs said Saturday.

Some 854,000 of the phones were exported to Hong Kong, up 190 percent, while 488,000 were exported to India, up 140 percent, and 244,000 were exported to ASEAN member countries, up more than 26 times year on year.

The exports were valued at 86.2 million U.S. dollars, up 140 percent from the same period last year.
