PSA to produce Peugeot 508 in China next year
PSA Peugeot Citroen says its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp. will produce and sell its new 508 sedan in China next year.
The large premium sedan, which replaces the Peugeot 407 model, will debut in October at the Paris auto show. It will go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2011, then debut in China in the summer of 2011.
According to the company's Web site, the 508 will feature the newly designed e-HDi stop-start system, and also an optional 200hp Hybrid4 all-wheel-drive powertrain.
The HYbrid4 emits 99 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
The company did not offer additional details about the 508's powertrain lineup.
In the first six months of 2010, PSA sold 176,000 vehicles, up 49 percent from the year-ago period.
