AMD Launches Chinese Game Development Program

AMD, global provider of innovative graphics, processors, and media solutions, has announced the launch of the Chinese version of its Activate website and its Activate Game development curriculum has been adopted by a Beijing middle school named Dandelion Middle School, which was specially started for children of migrant workers.

Announced earlier this year, Activate is a program targeting teenagers between 13 and 15. It aims to help these young people easily design and program video games. Accessed via the campus network, the Activate website contains game production tutorial and game samples.

Students from Dandelion Middle School will learn the basic procedures of how to develop video games in four one-week-long workshops. About 480 students will participate in this curriculum.

In addition, AMD donated 30 Founder computers based on AMD's Athlon II X3 425 processor to Dandelion Middle School.

Activate was created in support of AMD Changing the Game, a signature education program of AMD. The initiative, which is run by the AMD Foundation, enables teens to learn critical STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills and become more globally-conscious citizens by developing digital video games with social content.
