Lavida sales hit 300,000 mark
Sino-German car joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen said sales of its Lavida compact sedan hit 300,000 units by the end of last month, just two years after the model was launched in June 2008.
Lavida - which also has the Chinese name Langyi - is the first independently developed car at Shanghai Volkswagen.
It has three engine options: 1.6-liter, 2.0-liter and 1.4-liter TSI (turbocharged stratified injection).
The company said the Lavida's inheritance of German quality combined with a roomy interior that can compete with a mid-sized sedan, low fuel consumption and a favorable price have all contributed to its success in the Chinese market.
