Visteon opens HVAC plant in China
U.S. auto-parts supplier Visteon Corp. has opened a heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) plant in Changchun in northeast China with joint-venture partner FAWER Automotive Parts Co.
The FAWER Visteon Climate Control System Co. plant replaces an existing factory and has expanded its range of products. Last year, FAWER Visteon established a joint venture with Japan Climate Systems to produce HVAC systems and radiators for domestic Chinese automakers.
The new plant can produce as many as 240,000 HVAC systems a year. The facility also will produce radiators.
The 23,000-square-meter plant can produce nearly 1.5 million radiators a year.
FAWER Visteon is a 50-50 joint venture. Customers include domestic Chinese automakers such as FAW Jiefang, FAW Xiali, FAW Car Co., FAW Hainan, Chery Automobile Co. and Zhejiang Geely Automotive Co.
The venture also supplies FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co. and Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co.
