China's civil aircraft industry to introduce overseas experts

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) began building an innovative enterprise incubation base in Beijing on March 29. The purpose of the base is to maximize use of advantageous resources and overseas experts, enhance research on advanced and basic civil aircraft technologies and strengthen domestic independent innovation, design and R&D capacities.

The incubation base, located in the Future Technology City of Beijing's Changping District, will engage in comprehensive research of basic, advanced and strategic civil aircraft technologies, according to Zhang Qingwei, chairman of COMAC. The base will mainly focus on development strategy for the civil aircraft industry, technologies of major aircraft models, research approaches and civil aircraft evaluation and certification methods. The base will strive to become a world-class aircraft research institution and home to civil aircraft experts.

COMAC is the principal implementer of China's major large passenger aircraft project and a key participant in the coordinated development of trunk and regional aircraft and in the industrialization of China's civil aircraft manufacturing industry. The overall technical design for the C919 large aircraft has already been completed and the fourth new ARJ21 regional aircraft will begin test flights in the near future.
