Passenger vehicle sales in China up 85 pc in first two months
Some 2,258,900 passenger vehicles were sold across China in the first two months of this year, a surge of 85.4 percent from the same period last year, according to information disclosed by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
Of the total figure, sales of domestic brand vehicles accounted for 49.8 percent. Sales of vehicles with Japanese, German, American, Korean and French brands represented 19.3 percent, 11.6 percent, 9.6 percent, 7.0 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively.
In February, the BYD F3 remained the top selling sedan on the domestic market with sales exceeding 21,300 units. Of the ten best selling sedans in the month, the other nine were the VW Lavida, the VW Santana, the Buick Excelle, the Honda Accord, the FAW Xiali, the Chevrolet Cruz, the Toyota Corolla, the Hyundai Elantra and the Chana Alsvin.
In contrast to the strength of the increase when measured on an annual basis, China's passenger vehicle sales growth is showing signs of slowing down, with sales sliding to 942,900 units in February from 1,316,000 units in January.
