Model of first domestically-designed airplane engine unveiled

On Nov. 2, China's first domestically-designed and developed airplane engine model shone at the 2009 Shanghai International Industry Fair preview.

The SF-A engine model can meet high demand required of a large passenger plane. SF-A has been designed and developed by AVIC Commercial Airplane Engine Co. Ltd, a subordinate to Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

AVIC Commercial Airplane Engine Co. Ltd was founded in Jan 2009. It aims to design commercial airplane engines, develop to meet the domestic demand for the next generation of large airplane engines and provide engine related equipment and services to the global market. It is the first time an engine made by this company has shown at the Industry Fair.

There were three products on show at the 2009 Shanghai Industry Fair. In addition to SF-A, the other two exhibits are 3000-4000 kg power turbofan engine and some string models.
