Computex Taipei 2009 to create NT$660 B. in biz opportunities
Reputed as the world's second-largest PC trade fair with the most comprehensive categories and newest products, Computex Taipei 2009, scheduled to run June 2-6, 2009, is expected to create huge business opportunities worth NT$660 billion (US$19.76 billion at US$1: NT$33.4) during the five-day span, according to industry insiders.
Despite the gloomy global economic outlook, Computex Taipei still attracts 1,700 exhibitors this year, utilizing a total of 4,600 booths at four exhibition halls of TWTC (Taipei World Trade Center). As many as 35,000 foreign visitors are expected.
Noteworthy is that Computex Taipei is officially open to Chinese exhibitors for the first time this year, as the show organizer, TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), has invited some Chinese big-name companies, including Huawei, Malata Group and Tsinghua Tongfang, to exhibit at the show. Also, a couple of Chinese buyers of ICT (Information and communication technologies)-based products, including Lenovo, Founder Group, Newland Group and Aigo, have shown intense interest to visit the show.
The show has been renowned as a window of the world's newest, most innovative ICT-based products and applications. This year, the show's exhibit categories also cover the hottest sellers in the global market, such as notebook PCs based on CULV (consumer ultra low voltage) platform, netbook PCs and All-in-one PCs with touch screens. However, the biggest hit with visitors will be the CULV-based laptops, with Acer and Asustek already deciding to unveil their models at the show.
In addition, Asustek, Micro-Star International Co. and Shuttle Inc. will launch their All-in-one, touch screen-integrated PCs at the show, believing such products will dominate the consumer market in the future.
