IBM Will Expand Research Center In Taiwan

IBM plans to expand its research center in Taiwan and it will recruit 150 new employees for the research center over the next three years.

IBM plans to expand its research center in Taiwan despite the economic crisis and it will recruit 150 new employees for the research center over the next three years.

Located in the Nankang Software Park, Taipei, this system and technology research center is IBM's only overseas server product research center. Since its establishment in 2004, the business of this research center has developed smoothly and the x86 server developed by this research center has currently accounted for half of IBM's global shipments.

In 2006, this research center started to develop new projects such as the Unix server and the POS system for retail stores. With the expansion of the market, the current 250 employees cannot meet the demands of business expansion. IBM says it plans to enlarge the scale of its research team in Taiwan to 400 employees. Apart from software and hardware talents, IBM will also hire new sales staff in this area.
