Oracle (ORCL) China says it is continuing to push investment into China, and the company has issued a number of statements outlining recent and future activity.

Oracle's new key investment and business initiatives in China include: setting up of new offices to meet growing demand in high-growth cities; investing in additional research and development as well as technical support facilities to address customer and partner requirements; partnering with government ministries to support regional economic development plans; and, the launch of new leading-edge software solutions and education programs to build competitive businesses and a skilled workforce.

"Oracle's investments support our three-prong strategy to support China's long-term growth and success," said Roger Li, regional managing director for Oracle Greater China. "Our goal is to help accelerate the adoption of information technology (IT) in public and private organizations, the development of the software industry, and the cultivation of IT talent."

Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company, has been operating in China for 18 years. More than 7,000 organizations across key industry sectors in China are leveraging its world-class database, middleware and applications software and services to get better information for better decisions and results, at the lowest total cost of ownership. Small and medium businesses make up about 80% of Oracle's total customer base in China.

In collaboration with more than 800 partners in China, Oracle provides innovative, industry-specific solutions that cater to China's unique needs. More than 90% of Oracle's business in China is fulfilled through its partners.

Oracle says it ramped up its expansion in China by establishing a number of new facilities to provide greater support and meet growing demands from customers across the country. Oracle opened eight new branch offices in high-growth cities - Shenyang, Dalian, Jinan, Xi'an, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Fuzhou. These branch offices enable Oracle to engage more proactively with local customers, share its leading technologies and expertise with users, and promote IT adoption. Oracle now has a total of 13 branch offices in China, including Beijing as the head office for China, and another 16 representative offices across the country.

In 2006, Oracle established an Oracle Global Support Center in Dalian, in Northeastern China. The facility focuses on providing technical assistance primarily to Oracle customers in China. It also serves as a multi-lingual service desk to provide local-language assistance to Oracle customers in Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

In 2007, Oracle launched the Oracle Consulting China Solutions Services Center in Chengdu in Southwest China, to provide consulting services for customer projects in North Asia, including Japan, Korea, mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The center leverages its experienced consulting professionals in Chengdu to provide localization, customization and integration services for applications consulting projects. A similar center is being planned in Shenyang in Northeast China to take advantage of the availability of Korean and Japanese speaking software developers.
