Chinese industrial park to land in east India

A Chinese company signed an expression of interest (EoI) with the government of east Indian state West Bengal Monday to set up a Chinese industrial park, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

A Chinese company signed an expression of interest (EoI) with the government of east Indian state West Bengal Monday to set up a Chinese industrial park, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

Jiangsu Overseas Group Corporation had sought about 101 hectares of land to set up the park which will house only companies from east China`s Jiangsu Province, said State IndustryDepartment Principal Secretary Sabyasachi Sen.

A three-member Chinese delegation had visited Haldia in East Midnapore district and Rajarhat near Kolkata. The Chinese was in favor of the former location as it is near a port, he said.

The industrial park might be converted into a special economic zone (SEZ) sometime later, Sen said.

A number of Chinese companies were keen to invest in West Bengal, he said.?
