Dongfeng-PSA venture's sales rebound in January
Sales of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., PSA Peugeot Citroen’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co., rebounded in January after declining for three straight years.
Last month, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen delivered 33,216 vehicles, advancing 14 percent from a year earlier, said Dongfeng, without disclosing sales of individual models.
The sales recovery was achieved after PSA accelerated the introduction of crossovers and SUVs at the partnership.
On Jan. 8, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen began selling the new Peugeot 2008 compact crossover. In 2017, the joint venture launched sales of the Peugeot 5008 SUV and the Citroen C5 Aircross compact crossover.
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen, headquartered in the central China city of Wuhan, assembles Peugeot cars and Citroen models except for the DS lineup.
PSA also runs a joint venture with Changan Automobile Co. Changan PSA, in the south China city of Shenzhen, builds Citroen DS models. The company has yet to release its sales for January.
