Autoneum launches output in Yantai, to open 3 more plants in China
Autoneum Holding AG says it has launched production of instrument panels and floor carpets in a new factory in the east China city of Yantai.
That plant will deliver components on a just-in-time basis to nearby automakers to support production of 250,000 vehicles annually.
Within a few weeks, a new factory in Changsha will launch production of carpeting, inner dashes and wheelhouse liners. Two other plants, in Pinghu and Shenyang, will launch production next year.
When those factories open, Autoneum will have 10 factories in China.
Autoneum, headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, produces carpeting, floor mats, inner dashes, heat shields, acoustic dampeners and other products.
In 2011, the company was spun off from its corporate parent, Rieter Automotive Systems.
In the first six months of the year, Autoneum’s global sales rose 2.5 percent year on year to $1.1 billion (7.3 billion yuan).
