China 2006 GDP seen up 10.2%

China's economy is estimated to have grown 10.4% in the first half of this year

Shanghai - China's economy is estimated to have grown 10.4% in the first half of this year, and will grow 10.2% for the full year, the country's top economic planner said in a research report on Tuesday.
China's consumer price index is expected to rise 1.5% in 2006, the National Development and Reform Commission said.

The NDRC also said it expects the country's 2006 trade surplus will be no less than US$100bn.

It suggested Beijing increase the benchmark interest rates by 0.25 percentage point, to drain excessive liquidity from the monetary market.
