BorgWarner secures deal to supply transmission parts to Changan Auto
BorgWarner Inc. says it won a contract to supply clutch and control modules for Chongqing Changan Automobile Co.'s first independently developed dual-clutch transmission.
The gearbox will be used in Changan¡¯s Eado plug-in hybrid, the Eado XT and a future SUV.
BorgWarner, a U.S. supplier, noted that Changan is one of the first Chinese automakers to develop a dual-clutch transmission.
China has become a growth market in recent years for BorgWarner. Last year, BorgWarner's China sales totaled $1.2 billion, up nearly 21 percent.
The company operates nine plants in China, which accounted for 13 percent of global sales last year. That figure will rise; 32 percent of the company's business backlog is in China.
