Dongfeng-PSA deliveries plunge 17% through first 7 months

Deliveries of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co. slumped 17 percent year on year to 321,200 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, according to a Chinese media report.

In July, the partnership's sales dropped 7 percent from a year earlier to 34,300 vehicles, reported Internet Info Agency, a Beijing-based website covering China's auto market.

Because of weak sales through July, Dongfeng Peugeot will struggle to achieve its sales target of 770,000 vehicles for 2016, the website noted.

Dongfeng Peugeot, based in the central China city of Wuhan, builds Peugeot and Citroen models but not the Citroen DS lineup. When sales began to decline last year, the partnership stopped disclosing monthly deliveries.

PSA produces the Citroen DS cars at its joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. in the south China city of Shenzhen. Sales data for Changan PSA are unavailable.
