Pittsburgh Glass Works opens glass plant in China
U.S. supplier Pittsburgh Glass Works opened a plant in the east China city of Zibo to produce glass for as many as two million vehicles a year.
The 34,600 square-meter factory will be capable of producing windshields designed for head-up displays, full-surface heating and embedded antennas, the company said.
The plant will be run by a joint venture with Shandong Jinjing Science & Technology Stock Co., a leading supplier of float glass in China.
The partners began construction in 2014. When the factory is fully operational, it will employ 350 workers.
PPG, headquartered in Pittsburgh, also operates factories in the United States, Mexico and Poland.
