Mazda's 2015 deliveries advance 12% on demand for fuel-efficient powertrains
Mazda Motor Corp.'s China deliveries advanced 12 percent year on year to 235,261 vehicles last year, reflecting strong demand for vehicles equipped with its Skyactiv direct-injection engines.
Mazda sells three models fitted with the powertrain technology: the Mazda CX-5, Mazda6 Atenza and Mazda3 Axela.
Strong sales of the three nameplates enabled Mazda to achieve sales growth from February to December.
In December, the Japanese brand sold 25,071 vehicles in China, an increase of 15 percent from a year earlier.
Mazda did not disclose sales for individual nameplates. But Mazda China CEO Watanabe Nobuhiko, in a statement, said monthly sales of the Mazda6 Atenza and Mazda3 Axela reached record highs in December.
