Japanese automotive seat producer Tachi-S Co. aims to more than double its annual sales in China to 60 billion Japanese yen (3 billion yuan) over the next three years, according to Japanese media.
Tachi-S will invest 120 million yuan in production equipment and r&d in China, the Japanese news agency Nikkei reported.
The company also plans to seek more business from Chinese automakers.
Tachi-S has 12 plants in China, and its biggest customers are the local joint ventures of Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co. The company also has started supplying seats to Geely Automobile Holdings and Chery Automobile Co.
To reduce production costs, Tachi-S plans to buy more seat components from suppliers in China.
To date, all seats that Tachi-S produces in China are designed at its headquarters in Japan. The company may also form a design team in China to support its business growth in the country, Nikkei reported.
